Karaoke is a favorite pastime of mine. I’ve trawled the waters from St. Louis to Kansas City in search of the best spots to sing karaoke. In Kansas City, one of those places happens to be Westport Flea Market every Saturday night! You may catch me there some weekend dueting to "Jackson" by Johnny Cash and June Carter with my hubby, Matt, or doing a rendition of something by Aretha, Madonna, or Whitney. Karaoke is for those brave souls willing to step out of their comfort zone to try something risky and new.
I was very glad to see someone else write about the Eurovision Song Contest. Thank you Jennie V!
Today is the second semi-final. Who would I vote for you ask? I would vote for the best singer, no matter where the singer is from. Although, it was very pleasant to see Dima Bilan bringing Eurovision to Moscow in 2009.
Join us at the library for a special Christmas performance by students from the Lawson High School Select Choir. These young and talented singers will be at the Excelsior Springs Branch to sing holiday carols and share the Christmas spirit. The performance will be on Thursday, December 15 at 2:30 pm.
You read that right; singing is an incredible tool to teach early language skills needed for future reading abilities. Singing helps children to hear the different sounds that letters can make, slows language down for better comprehension, illustrates the rhythms of reading, and can even teach concepts of development!
