The North Oak Branch was closed for three days in May to do some updating to our building. While this project is not finished yet, we have made some big changes in how the different collections of items in the building are shelved. We also installed new lighting that is brighter and also more energy efficient. Future plans include a brand new circulation desk, new furniture, more book display options, and digital signage to advertise library programs and services.
Come See the New Layout at the Blue Springs South Branch!
As you may have noticed, the Blue Springs South Branch was closed the first week of May. On Monday, May 10, the branch reopened to reveal new carpeting and a brand new layout featuring a fresh, open floor plan with more shelving and seating.
One of the most notable changes in our design is the relocation of the catalog computers. Before, several computers were banked together in only 2 locations inside the library. Now, a computer with library catalog access is available in close proximity to nearly every section of the library.
Take a behind the scenes glance of North Independence.
Thank you for your patience while we are moving and shaking.
We are seeing some grand improvements to our old building. Libby, the North Independence Library cat, took a tour around the building looking for good hiding places. She loves her new digs and can't wait to get moved back.

If you haven’t been to the Raytown Branch for a while, we think you are in for a pleasant surprise. We are very pleased with the results of our recent enhancement project. New lighting and department relocations give the building a brighter, more spacious look.

Jesse James won't be staring down on patrons from behind the circulation desk at the Mid-Continent Public Library-Kearney Branch much longer.
The library will be closed May 2 -15 to undergo enhancement, and the pictures of Jesse, as well as those of gravestones of various James and Younger family members and the coward Bob Ford, will most likely be enhanced right off the library's walls.
