Teens! Please join us on Tuesday March 13th at 6:30 p.m. for this month's exciting and wonderful Green Projectsprogram, where we give old and used materials a new life as a unique recycled craft! We have a fabulous project in store for you this month; we will use a material that we happen to have in copius quantities here at MCPL, old books!
The Raytown Branch has been going green for a while now, but this coming year, we are very actively trying to become even greener. We have been sending a lot of our paper to the shredding company that comes weekly. This also helps avoid any privacy problems from paper left lying around.
As you admire all the bright and shiny holiday lights decorating the houses of your friends and neighbors, do you ever wonder what to do with any broken, old strands of Christmas lights? Well, MCPL is helping you out by partnering with Southeast Enterprises to collect and recycle any unwanted Christmas lights. Visit any of our branches to donate your lights to this great project. So far they have gathered over 6,894 pounds of lights!
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, the staff of MGC would like to let you know about some of the things we do to encourage our co-workers, as well as patrons, to be more eco-friendly.
Did you know that there are recycling bins for paper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles in our patron lounge and by our copiers? Customers and staff are encouraged to reuse paper or recycle whenever possible. MGC also offers recycled scratch paper near each copier.
