As a college student, I have little time outside of reading the textbooks for my classes, especially as an English Major. Though they are neat and nifty reads, I tend to get stuck reading classic literature like The Iliad, Beowulf, Parliament of Fowls, and other oldies. But too many classics turn a mind old, at least that’s how mine feels at times.
When was the last time you read a picture book? If you aren’t dealing with children who are interested in books at this age level, then chances are you haven’t been browsing these titles. However, picture books can be clever, bright, works of art - gems to be enjoyed at any age.
Dewey: There’s a Cat in the Library! is a beautifully illustrated story of a kitten found in the library’s book return. The librarian cleans him up, names him Dewey and decides to keep him. He has a hard time adjusting at first, but he finally decides it is his job to help patrons.
