What do you get when you gather some drill team library carts, great decorations, AND some fun librarians------with bags FULL of candy?
You get the makings for a fantastic parade entry!
The Mid-Continent Public Library System was superbly represented at the Blue Springs Fall Fun Fest Parade. The parade was held on the 18th of September, and it WAS fun for all!
The Liberty Branch, including 15 staff and library friends, participated in the Liberty Fall Festival Parade on September 25, 2010. Staff shared candy and library bookmarks with parade watchers. We enjoyed seeing our local community attend the parade, and recognized many who regularly visit the library. It’s always a pleasure to see our library friends!
Who says librarians can't have a good time! We are some of the zaniest people around. Just watch us in our element when we gather together in a parade. I'm talking about the Gladfest Parade that was on Saturday, October 2.
We made people smile, handed out candy, strutted our stuff, and had a good time. If you missed us this year, be sure to catch us next year.
Belated congratulations to the MCPL Book Cart Drill Team and Independence Branches for winning First Place in the "Commercial-Other" Division at the Independence Halloween Parade. The Independence Halloween Parade is a rite of passage for many students in the area. Every student that has ever played in an Independence School band can tell you their own thrilling or chilling story of marching in the parade. It may be another parade to some, but for others, it's a tradition. The team did a great job, thanks for representing!
Irish Blessing for Happiness May your troubles be less And your blessing be more And nothing but happiness Come through your door.
As soon as I turn the calendar over to March, I look to see on what day St. Patrick’s Day lands. There are many opportunities to celebrate in Kansas City with a parade, or Irish food, or music.
Fall is coming up on us quick. And with fall comes a whole host of parades and festivals in and around Kansas City! The following are just some of the parades/festivals coming up (and ones in which MCPL will be participating):
The parade will start everything off on Saturday morning. Throughout the weekend, there will be several different musical performances as well as other live entertainment. There will be a children’s area and a petting zoo to keep the kids entertained. There will also be several different vendors selling food, crafts, etc.
This past Saturday, the library’s Book Cart Drill Team took part in the Fall Fun Fest Parade. I was so happy to see so many of our library customers taking part in this event and cheering for us. As employees, we know how important the library and its services are to our community, and we strive every day to create a positive impact on those we serve.
Fall is almost upon us. As everyone in Weston knows, the first Saturday in October is Applefest! There will be parades, apple cider, apple butter making, and hay baling. Shops downtown are decorated for the season, and will be busy. I hope everyone comes out to see the parade because the Book Cart Drill Team will show off their Book cart moves.
