Movie Month! Sci-Fi vs. Fantasy: The Battle Ensues
So what makes one movie a Sci-Fi and another a Fantasy flick? Does the use of magic make a movie a fantasy? Are movies based on things that could possibly happen in the future Science Fiction?
There have been some real flops in cinema history! Who can forget when Gigli completely bombed at the box office, or the total train wreck that is Howard the Duck? I asked substitute library clerk Diane Creed what is the worst movie that she has ever seen? Kiss of a Spider Woman she said, "It was just horrible. I tried to watch it twice and it sucked!". What makes a film a flop? She said, "Bad dialog, bad casting, and a horrible storyline; the script is important, and editing is very critical.
