Summer means two things in the library world – the Summer Reading Program and vacations. If you’re headed out of town this July or August – and you’re worried that the book you’ve had on the holds list since January is going to come in while you’re out of town – and be gone before you get back… don’t panic! You can ‘suspend’ your hold while you’re out of town! This will hold your place in line.
What is your pick? I have read both Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and Fallen by Lauren Kate. Both books were very good, but I was ready for something new.
Goosebumps, I got goose bumps, I'm not going to lie when I saw the new Harry Potter preview. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows arrives in November and the new trailer has just surfaced. Although, I have mixed feelings about the last two movies, on the one hand I’m very excited, on the other I’m a little sad. It didn't take me long to jump on the Harry Potter bandwagon. I started reading the books in early 2000 before the last three books had come out. I was immediately hooked. I'm so enraptured by these books, I even remember where I was the first time I really looked at them.
I don’t know about you, but when I read a book that I really, really like, I envision it as a movie. In my head, I cast actors, design sets, stitch costumes, and hire a director. I think we all know the thrill (and the fear) that comes when a favorite book is turned into a movie. But did you realize that there are plenty of people out there who read a book and hear music? Oh, they cast actors, design sets, stitch costumes, and hire a director in their heads, too, but they also write songs.
