Some people may not know about one of our most important employees here at the Edgerton Branch: our Custodian! We routinely receive compliments when people walk in the door about how clean and neat our library is and how good it smells here. We say, "It’s because Terry does such a good job of keeping our branch clean!"
I thought I would take an opportunity to ask her a few questions about her job.
Q: What is your position, here at the Edgerton Branch? A: Custodian
Q: How long have you worked here? A: Fifteen years!
As we recently welcomed our new Branch Manager, I started thinking about the rest of the branch staff and realized I didn't know as much about them as I could, and that maybe you would like to know more as well. Here’s a short blog with some Qs & As.
Today we will start with our Asst. Manager - Connie K., who has been with MCPL the longest of our staff, and our newest staff member Lauren C., who just began her career with MCPL this past summer as a Page.
This month I had the pleasure of interviewing Jordan P. for our Employee of the Month blog.
Q: What position do you hold at your branch? A: I am a Library Assistant.
Q: How long have you been at the Edgerton Branch, and how long have you been with Mid-Continent Public Library? A: I have been with Mid-Continent Public Library at the Edgerton Branch for a little over eight years!
Last month, we hired a few new employees at our Excelsior Springs Branch. One of those new employees is Wayne, who is now a Substitute Library Clerk. Wayne is a retired law enforcement officer for the city of Excelsior Springs. He served for 31 years, and for the last 5 he was a detective. I had the pleasure of asking him a few questions today.
Me: How are you enjoying your new job here at the Library?
Wayne: I’m loving it, but the computer’s dealing me a fit so far!
How long have you worked at Mid-Continet Public Library? I have worked here since September 2012.
What position(s) have you held at MCPL? I am the Assistant Branch Manager.
Wat is your favorite thing about working at MCPL? Helping people find information and books that they want. And watching kids faces light up when they find a book they like.
Starting this year, we have a brand new display that will be a recurring theme here at our branch. As many of you may know, I have been featuring an employee once a month in a blog as we travel through the year. NOW, you can come to our Library and see a special display for the featured employee of the month!
Have you ever returned a book to any Mid-Continent Public Library? Have you ever requested a book from a MCPL branch? Have you ever taken a book off of a shelf and returned it to a book return cart or to the front desk? I can guarantee if you have done any of the above mentioned activities, you have engaged one of the hardest working groups of our employees…our Pages.
