Many of you who have visited the Riverside Branch probably have seen our very large, but sadly nameless bear. We love our bear, and as Sarah H. wrote to us: "He has an appetite for reading. He likes to paw through a good book. He is a beary good reader, perusing both short tails and long tales."
The lists below will take your name and turn it into a Western novel title. Take the first initial from your first name, middle name, and last name, and string the words together, adding phrases like "at" or "at the" as necessary for the title to make sense. For example, the initials ERA would equate to Vengeance at the Western Trail. And there you have it, your name turned into a title fitting for a western novel.
Let’s see how well you know books. Out of the cat mystery writers, who penned her first novel in 1966? The second and third books in this series quickly followed in 1967 and 1968.

The Summer Reading Program may still be a few months away, but we have a little contest for you while you are waiting for it. All you have to do is take a picture that captures one of the themes of the program. The winning pictures will be printed in our advertisements. The themes are as follows:
Have your heard of Pierre the Parrot? I know some of the kids have heard about him while we were out promoting Summer Reading Program at the schools. But in case you haven't, please meet Pierre the Parrot. He will be hiding in various areas in our Library during SRP. So, when you come in to sign your children up for SRP, have them walk around the branch with you and find where he may be nesting for the day.
