Have you found the huge selection of databases available on the MCPL website? There are wonderful resources right at your fingertips. From the Homepage, click on Kids at the top. On the left side of the screen, you will see Teachers. Click on this, and then click Web Resources: Teaching Resources. You will find excellent resources on this page. Be sure to click Home Schooling at the top of the page for additional resources specifically for homeschoolers!
The Lone Jack Branch has been offering programs to home-educated students for over 15 years. The program has changed its name a few times, as did this category of education. What has not changed here is the desire to make a difference in people’s lives. It seems that we would eventually exhaust the list of topics, but the world is so big, so old, and so diverse!
Big Changes for North Independence Branch Homeschoolers @ the Library
Nationwide, 1.5 million children are homeschooled. The number of children being educated at home increases each year.
To more effectively meet the needs of homeschoolers and their parents, the North Independence Branch would like to announce that we are enlarging our Homeschoolers@ the Library program. Starting on January 9, 2013, we will be having an activity for homeschooling families every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

The new section includes many great resources, including, new, updated websites (curriculum, blogs, tips & tricks, and more!), events for homeschool kids and teens, and blogs by our Homeschool Advisory Team. This team is made up of actual homeschool families who will share their experiences with library resources and how they utilize them in their everyday learning.
