When February rolls around and every store is chock full of the red, white, and pink Valentine's decor, it's hard to think of the month as celebrating anything but that.
But, February has a week that I feel is even more important than Valentine's Day, because it celebrates what should be the foundation of any great relationship!
I was browsing through a calendar of events book and stumbled upon February 13th. The event listed for this date is called "Madly in Love With Me Day." The theory behind the day is that you have to love "me" before you can love "we."
Recently, we celebrated Valentine's Day. As I wrote this, I was reminded of the joys of Valentine’s Days past: romantic dinners with significant others and exchanging little sentiments with timeless lyricisms as "You’re A-Ok with" me or "Will you BEE mine" on thin paper dropped in shoe boxes and decorated with hearts and pink tissue. My mouth waters thinking of those chalky, teeth breaking candy hearts you only get at this time of year, and of course, sharing the big heart-shaped box of Mom’s Russell Stover candy that Dad bought her every year.
In honor of National Noodle Month (otherwise known as March), I would like to introduce you to some of my favorite pasta dishes. Be it tortilla chips and salsa, or potato chips and ranch, or French onion dip, it’s all good. If you like fresh vegetables, or perhaps grow your own vegetables, why not try making a homemade salsa? Here are a few suggestions for books that can help you create your own dips:
Have you ever wanted to create your own holiday—a day special to you even if to no one else? If so, then March 26 (Make Up Your Own Holiday Day) is YOUR day!
This holiday is one of about 80 created by Thomas and Ruth Roy who operate www.wellcat/holiday.com. Their mission? As they put it, "To create zany holidays that inspire folks to celebrate life and its many quirky moments."
Spring is finally here, and one thing that truly signals the start of spring for me is seeing families fly kites in the park near my home. I love watching kites, especially sport kites, but I have to admit I'm terrible at it. The last time I tried to fly one, I managed a direct hit on top of my head.
