Summer means two things in the library world – the Summer Reading Program and vacations. If you’re headed out of town this July or August – and you’re worried that the book you’ve had on the holds list since January is going to come in while you’re out of town – and be gone before you get back… don’t panic! You can ‘suspend’ your hold while you’re out of town! This will hold your place in line.
NEW RELEASES…WHY PAY WHEN YOU CAN SEE THEM FOR FREE!!
Mid-Continent Public Library now has new release movies (also known as Feature Films) available on DVD with a 7-day loan period. To see these titles, just log in to our online catalog and do an advanced search under Shelf Location using the term Feature Films.
As you may already know, the Platte City Branch, like a number of other Mid-Continent Public Library branches, has recently begun utilizing a self-service holds shelf. Now, when you come in to the library to pick up your reserved materials, you can simply retrieve the items, and even check them out yourself with our self-checkout station, without ever having to wait in line. Just look for the Reserved Materials shelf near our checkout desk. Of course, you are still free to pick up your materials at our drive-through window as well.
Do you like television? I know I do. Do you like a little mystery in your life? Television is full of mystery and suspense and it has become my passion. Have you heard of the television show Bones?
It happened to me this week. Typically, I have over 30 items on hold at any given time, but usually the books that come in are for my kids. This week, I’ve finally gotten some for me. Some being six.
Getting the library materials you want has never been easier. You can request any, of over three million items through your account on the internet, or just call us on the phone to place a hold. Most items you request will be available in a couple days. The Dearborn branch is just a mile off Interstate I-29, without all the congestion of the large city. We are about halfway between Kansas City and St.
I placed holds on all of these really great books I want to read by my favorite authors. Some of them, I can only keep for 14 days. I’ll never read all 8 in 28 days, and I know I won’t be able to renew most of them because they are so popular and will be on a waiting list for other people.
