Finding a workout that fits your lifestyle can become a workout within itself. Mid-Continent Public Libraries have a great selection of workout DVDs to pick and choose.
Need help with your weight problem? Always check with your doctor in case there is a medical problem. With that in mind, the library has books and databases as tools to help you. The tools contain information on portion control, smarter eating, exercise, hormone enhancement, secret obesogens, stress, and boredom.
The days are finally getting longer, and the weather is perfect for exercise. It's not super warm outside, but it's just cool enough that you won't get over heated when doing "get-fit" activities.
For years, I used a standard exercise bike in my home. However, as the years passed, the seat became more and more uncomfortable (notice it had NOTHING to do with my derriere changing – just the bike seat became more uncomfortable!). In addition, my aging back began to complain about the forward leaning position. While visiting a bicycle shop, I tried out a recumbent tricycle (oh yes, we DO go in full circles in life… back to a tricycle!).
5k, 10k, marathon, triathlon, oh my! It’s getting to be that time of year again when everyone seems to be using an athletic event to raise money or encourage fitness. This year I plan to challenge myself with a few races, including a triathlon. People may think I am crazy for committing to training for a race that includes swimming, biking, and running, but I like to think I am up for the challenge. I have armed myself with books on how to train and prepare for a triathlon. All from my local library! Challenge yourself this year and make a goal of trying something new with your fitness.
