I find history to be so fascinating when you can hear about it from someone who lived through it. My favorite part about the Band of Brothers mini-series is the interviews at the beginning of each episode.

Autumn...that wonderful time of year when leaves turn brilliant colors, days are cooler, and little ghoulies come out for Halloween. If you’re looking for something special to do with your little goblins, several things are going on around town this month:
Join us Thursday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Raytown Branch for a special holiday program. Treat the kids to a program that's a train load of fun, filled with puppets, magic, storytelling, music, and audience participation.
This train ride will magically take the kids around the world to learn about different winter holidays like Diwali, Kwanzaa, Solstice, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Hanukkah, and Christmas.
Stories have always been a popular form of entertainment for us. They take many forms and have many meanings. Some are meant to be funny, others tragic.
The North Oak Branch of MCPL will host this fun program on November 2nd at 7:00PM. Popular with all ages (1st Grade through adult), this program teaches words of greeting in different languages coupled with the expression of individual artistic ideas by decorating T-shirts as wearable art. If you missed it in September, here is your chance to catch up! Just bring yourself and your creative side.
Are you looking for something to do to get out of the house next week? Come in from the cold and warm up with storyteller Jo Ho’s Cozy Quilt Tales at the North Oak Branch on Monday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. Jo will tell cozy tales to warm your heart (and toes). Quilts are part of who we are, and they can have a story to tell. Enjoy silly tales and historic ones, too - all pieced together to capture the love of rural life. Fun for the whole family!
Get ready for another installment of our Homeschoolers @ the Library series! Mad Science will be here on Thursday, November 17th at 3 p.m. to play with the forces of nature. Explore the science of motion by playing with rotational forces, a rocket pack, and a rocket car! We promise that you’ll have a "moving" experience.
