This Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m., Operation Wildlife is coming out to our branch for an in-depth look at raptors. They will be bringing out a variety of birds (an owl, hawk, and falcon!) for children to look at and learn about.

Every June we celebrate all things LEGO here at the Kearney Branch with LEGOpalooza.
It's a time for LEGO enthusiasts, young and young at heart, to gather to show off their brick creations and share ideas. The creations that come through our doors for the show are always imaginative and fun to see.
This year LEGOpalooza 2013 will be Saturday, June 8 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Grain Valley Branch will have a petting zoo on Wednesday, June 5 at 9:30 a.m. Stable T. Farms will be bringing all kinds of farm animal for the kids to pet and learn about. We will be out on the front lawn for this program.
The program, Dig into Nature with WildHeart, has changed venues and times. It is still Wednesday, June 12th. But, now it will be hosted at the Pavilion in Armstrong Park here in Grain Valley at 9:30 a.m.
When I think of summer, I think of the lake, Dari-B ice cream cones, and children playing at the park. I picture all of these things while working at the Library and think, "If I could only think of a job where I could get paid to enjoy summer!"
Join the Blue Ridge Branch for a musical performance on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. Our featured musician will be Kevin M. Kraft, a local musician who specializes in making and playing the cigar box guitar. Mr. Kraft will discuss the history of the cigar box guitar, followed by a musical performance on the cigar box guitar.

This Tuesday night (July 16th at 7:00 p.m.), there will be a special night at the Blue Ridge Branch. For the first time ever, we will be having an 1800s-era tea party! Children will learn the proper way to hold, drink, and stir their tea, along with many other tea "rules." Feel free to dress up (or down!), you will be welcomed either way!
