Guess Who's Coming to Grain Valley....It's Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy
For those who don't know who Nancy Clancy is, she is a little girl who loves all things fancy. The fancier the better- boas, sparkles, hearts, and bows. But, the great thing about Nancy is that she loves fancy words, especially French words. Using these adjectives makes her feel even fancier.
Fall is just around the corner, and with its arrival, the Blue Springs North Branch will be offering some fun and unique programs. The following are just a few of those programs. Check out our Events page for a full listing for our branch (or any others).
Come to the Halloween Hulla-Boo! at the Boardwalk Branch
The Boardwalk Branch invites all interested little ghosts and goblins to come to the haunted library on Saturday, October 27, at 2:00 p.m. for a Halloween Hulla-Boo!
Don your scariest costumes and come enjoy a ghastly hour or two sharing spooky songs, stories, and horrible games. We will rip into crafts with our claws, and paws and tear into some dreadful refreshments. See you here, Wa-ha-ha!
"Bah humbug!" Almost everyone is familiar with this famous quote from Ebenezer Scrooge of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I grew up on such book classics as this and Twas the Night Before Christmas. I anxiously awaited the TV cartoons like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. There were no cartoon versions of A Christmas Carol until 1983, when Disney released Mickey’s Christmas Carol.
This is my favorite time of year! I love the holiday decorations, the gift-giving, and the planning of surprises for the entire family. I could watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas at least once a week between now and December 25.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Grain Valley Branch Saturday December, 8th at 10:00 a.m. for stories and an opportunity to visit with Santa. Bring the camera and capture this memory forever.
Can you hear what I hear? Santa Claus! And Mrs. Claus, too? Since when does she make house calls? I thought she always stayed at the North Pole to keep track of the elves' shenanigans. Do you know why elves make the toys and never get them? My theory is that they are always naughty enough to keep them from getting presents but nice enough to not get a lump of coal. I'm sure they keep her very busy, but this is a very special occasion!
