Did you know that your library has a variety of different events happening every week? You can choose from Book Clubs, Homeschoolers @ The Library, Storytimes, and other special programs we have coming up! The dates and times for these are simple to find.
Horses at the Library?! Don’t worry, you won’t have to watch your step for stray droppings while looking for a good book to read, they’ll be outside in the grass! The Kansas City Sunset Trails Horse Stables will be bringing out horses to the Blue Ridge Branch this Saturday April 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Come out to the Blue Ridge Branch, bring the kiddos, and meet and groom some beautiful creatures.
You’ve probably heard a lot about the Summer Reading Program and other activities and programs for kids and teens at the Library this summer. However, adults can have fun at the Library, too. Here are a few programs coming up at the Excelsior Springs Branch this summer that are designed just for adults.
As genealogists, it isn’t terribly uncommon for us to come across coincidences somewhere along our family lines, or even confluences of one of our lines with the line of a good friend or maybe even our spouse. Occasionally, we even find someone who is related to us somewhere down our line in an unexpected place – like the Midwest Genealogy Center!
June 14th marked a change in pace for the Liberty Branch. We hosted teens from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. for our first Teen Lock-In. The theme was Zombie Tag, and it was a night to remember! The Library was decorated with posters and zombie items of all kinds. (Thanks to the North Independence Branch for their willingness to share props and gory table coverings.) At one point, we even discovered a couple of zombies peeking in our windows!
We are having tons of fun this summer in Grain Valley. The Summer Reading Program is in full swing, and we are having some amazing progams here at the Library. Just today, we hosted a program by the Kansas City Zoo. The presenters were awesome, and the kids had a great time. They were even able to pet an alligator.
We have plenty of other fun stuffed planned this summer, so check our Events, and come join in the fun.
Join the Blue Ridge Branch for a musical performance on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. Our featured musician will be Kevin M. Kraft, a local musician who specializes in making and playing the cigar box guitar. Mr. Kraft will discuss the history of the cigar box guitar, followed by a musical performance on the cigar box guitar.
Feel free to R.S.V.P. for this one-of-a-kind event by registering online or calling the Blue Ridge Branch at 816.761.3382.
This Tuesday night (July 16th at 7:00 p.m.), there will be a special night at the Blue Ridge Branch. For the first time ever, we will be having an 1800s-era tea party! Children will learn the proper way to hold, drink, and stir their tea, along with many other tea "rules." Feel free to dress up (or down!), you will be welcomed either way!
