A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is brought to life at MCPL. Join us Tuesday, November 29th, 7:00 p.m. at Blue Springs North Branch as David zum Brunnen portrays the 17 Christmas Carol characters and Dickens himself. A favorite for all ages, this excellent performance rings in the Christmas cheer as we hear from Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Mr. Fezzwig, Bob Cratchit, and the four Ghosts of Christmas, just to name a few.
Celtic face masks. Holiday decorations. Kids learning to dance. This is just a taste of some of the fun and creative programs that are waiting for you at the Excelsior Springs Branch in the coming days.

Every year, the Independence Young Matrons hosts a Holly and Mistletoe Homes Tour. This year will highlight four area homes and the Midwest Genealogy Center, which are all "decked out" for the holidays. Included in the tour is their annual bake sale, "The Sweet Shop," which will be located at the Midwest Genealogy Center. There will be delicious baked goods for sale as well as a baskets raffle.
I sure hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving Holiday. I know I had a relaxing holiday with family that I haven't seen for a while, followed by crazy shopping, and vegging out on the couch. I suppose that I should recommend a couple of good exercise or fitness tomes, but I'm not really in the mood at this time. Maybe for a New Year's resolution? Stay tuned (hopefully before I gain 10 pounds).
Do you have a passion for duct tape but have never found that perfect venue to let it all out? Well, do I have a program for you! On Wednesday, December 7th, the Liberty Branch will host a Duct Tape Creations program for teens starting at 7:00 p.m. We will focus on all things colorful and sticky by making wallets and other creations.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. We’ve got the old wreaths hanging between windows, the lovely Christmas tree adorned with soft glowing lights spiraling around from branch to branch (not to brag but it’s quite spectacular), and we can’t forget the shiny presents sitting beneath this old tree of ours (sorry, I get distracted by shiny things pretty easily).
Ever heard of Minute to Win it? Or Stupid Human Tricks? This is the library version for teens. Come to the library and challenge your coordination. Plan on catching, tossing, shooting rubber bands, and playing keep it up with balloons. Winners will be rewarded, and everyone will be photographed (including myself). On December 6th at 7:00 p.m., be there and bring you’re A game.
