Mid-Continent Public Library has an inventory of over three million books, audiobooks, videos, and CDs. But, what if you would like something not in our library catalog? Then, it is time to turn to a tool called WorldCat. Through WorldCat, you can look at the holdings of libraries across the United States, and place requests for items you would like.
Did you know your that local Mid-Continent Public branch is a storehouse of recipes? We are a little like the shelf in Mom's kitchen where the recipes are kept. Remember, it has the Betty Crocker cookbooks and the box with recipes clipped from the newspaper with Mom's favorites?

Mid-Continent Public Library has resources that will keep them entertained, and also help them learn. Interactive books—where they can read along with the narrator—may be just what you are looking for.
Did you receive a new gadget as a present over the holiday season, such as an iPad, Nook or iPod? Then, come to your local library for music and audiobooks. If you received an e-reader, you can download eBooks and audiobooks. Go to our home page, and then click on Books, Movies, Music at the top of the screen. From that page, navigate down the left-hand side to Downloadable Audiobooks.
Recently, I had a customer looking for books her child could read along with. I found a wonderful database on the MCPL website called TumbleBook Library. TumbleBook Library is a collection of animated talking picture books for children. It also has children's audiobooks and read-along books, and offers some titles in foreign languages.

When you think auto repair, libraries may not be the first thing that comes to your mind. But, it should be the first place you look if you’re a do-it-yourself mechanic. When my truck breaks down, I used to run to the auto parts store and buy manuals. But now, I run to the Library. The Mid-Continent Public Library has lots of auto and truck repair manuals. If your vehicle’s repair manual is not at your local Library, just ask for help. The Library Clerk at the front desk can order it in for you. It will arrive at your Branch in just a few days.
