It’s that time of year again—fall is all around us with crisp, fresh air, rainbow trees, and little goblins looking for places to gather treats. As always, MCPL and the City of Blue Springs have some fun activities to offer.
You may be asking yourself about Meow Society. Is it for cats only? Do you learn strange new purring sounds? Do you learn how to get along with kittens? Well, it’s none of those things! Meow Society is a fun, growing group of kids who are sharing their writing here at the Red Bridge Branch.
The Red Bridge Branch will be hosting a special program, Magic Peanuts: Exploring George Washington Carver, on Monday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. George Washington Carver grew up in Missouri. He was one of the most prominent scientists and inventors of his time. He also was a teacher at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He used the peanut to design such products as dyes, plastics, and gasoline.
The Summer Reading Program has already started! To celebrate its beginning, we are going to have a party! Join us THIS Saturday, June 1st from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for games, prizes, face painting, and more!
Kids can join Jordyn outside to make some fabulous art with sidewalk chalk! Then come inside and find Philip to get your face painted! We will also have a special area reserved to dig for buried treasure!
I love summer. I love taking picnics up to Smithville Lake. I love going for hikes in Weston Bend State Park. I love HOT weather. I love going for runs in the afternoon sun, catching a few not-good-for me rays. It’s June and the Summer Reading Program has started, so where is my hot weather?
The program, Dig into Nature with WildHeart, has changed venues and times. It is still Wednesday, June 12th. But, now it will be hosted at the Pavilion in Armstrong Park here in Grain Valley at 9:30 a.m.
Think the Summer Reading Program is just about Reading? Think again. There are all sorts of ways for kids to enjoy themselves while participating this summer. And what better way to start things off than with a party?
