Summer is right around the corner, and we've dreamed up some really fun (and free) events for children of all ages. Whether you're a child, a child at heart, or just like listening to stories and having fun, our following summer lineup will keep you entertained and happy all summer long!
The Dome Theater is a one-of-a-kind visual experience, featuring an inflatable room and using the latest in fish-eye technology to create a totally immersive experience that rivals IMAX. Movies will be shown throughout the day and last an average of 30 minutes. Tickets for each show are $1. Tickets go on sale May 25 and must be purchased at the branch.
It's summertime and there is nothing more fun than monkeying around with the StoneLion Puppet Theatre. Come see a tiny monkey with a giant banana as they explore the world with their big dreams. As the little monkey starts off on his journey to discover new adventures, he has an opportunity to meet a special little friend who helps to make his dream come true!
The Frogs are coming! Edgerton’s 13th Annual Frog Jumping Contest will be held Wednesday, June 20th beginning at 10 a.m. with registration for the Frog Jumping Contest.
This event is B.Y.O.F (Bring Your Own Frog)! Bring a frog to enter in the jumping contest. Frogs will be judged on looks, color, personality, size, character, and other wonderful froggy traits.
Actually, they rocked the Library, but you know what I mean. Yep, the Emmy Award winning group WildHeart entertained and educated us this week, and it was a great show. I like to call it "edurocktainment," and there’s plenty more to come this summer.
If you missed this event don’t feel bad. Here at South Independence, we’ve got a whole summer of fun planned in the cool confines of the branch.
If the sunny, hot days have worn you out, bring the kiddos to the Library for some snuggle time. Let the cool air usher you into our inviting, comfortable atmosphere for some story-telling fun.
On June 28th at 2:00 p.m., the Colbern Road Branch invites you to PJs and Plushables. Jump into your jammies and bring your favorite stuffed friend to listen to silly stories. Giggles, smiles, and hugs await you. We hope to see you there!
Come and join us on Tuesday July 3, at 10:00 a.m. for Flossie and the Fox. Flossie is a young girl who meets a red-furred creature in the woods. She doesn’t believe that he is a fox unless he can prove it. Don’t forget, Prof. Jeri Dell and the Library Frogs will be here, also. Join Anitra Steele and us for this delightful puppet show.
Celebrate Fall at the American Girl Halloween Monster Mash
Here at the Kearney Branch, we rarely turn down a chance to celebrate and have some fun. This fall, our big chance will be the American Girl Halloween Monster Mash on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
We're dressing up the Library's American Girl doll collection in their Halloween costumes and turning our children's program area into a Halloween party.
Looking for something different to do on Halloween?
Then, why not join the North Oak staff Wednesday, October 31st.
During the month of October, the North Oak Branch will transform into the "Enchanted Library." It is our goal to provide our community with a safe place to take children trick or treating.
