My husband and I love to go camping. We usually start planning on where we are going to go in January and February. This is because some campgrounds are so popular that they get filled up for the summer before winter even ends. When we have decided where we want to camp, I start looking for books at the library on the area.
My family likes to take one week of our vacation every summer and go camping. We meet my brother-in-law and his family, and get several camp sites next to each other. We do our cooking, and we fish off my brother-in-law’s deck boat, just relaxing and visiting. We enjoy our time together very much.
My family and I just took advantage of this terrific, autumn weather by going camping this past weekend. We usually go camping in a State Park several times a year, and have turned our packing into a routine. We just throw some clothes, matches, tent, chairs, toys, scooters, and sleeping gear into the car and head out. And if the kids are good, we even bring some food.
I know what you're thinking; "He's gone completely off his rocker!" But I will stand by my statement. I have been winter camping for over 30 years, mainly as a Boy Scout and adult Scout Leader, and it's become my favorite time of year for camping. I know you're probably going to need some convincing, so let me explain why you should leave your warm house and go sleep outside in the winter, preferably when the temperatures are sub-freezing.
