Have you ever wondered who does our wonderful bulletin boards here at Lee’s Summit? That would be Julia!! When she isn’t helping a patron, you can find her cutting, drawing, or coloring. We are always looking at these bits and pieces and trying to decipher what could they be. Then one day, she closes off the storytime area. When she opens the curtain, it all makes sense and is gorgeous. Come down and check out these works of art, they will be up all Fall.
What do you think of when you think about working at a library? I always thought that you checked in books, you checked out books, and you put books away. That is true. When you work at the library, you do accomplish those important tasks. But, I never thought working at the library also included doing bulletin boards, or never realize the amount of work that goes into making a bulletin board.
The theme for Oak Grove’s spring bulletin board is "Read Between the Lines." It’s all about how every story is full of little things that surprise you and how a thousand tiny details come together to make the big picture. At first glance, the image appears to be that of a dragon wrapped around a castle and holding a frightened princess captive, with a knight on his trusty steed coming to the rescue. However, upon closer inspection, you can see that the picture actually consists of many words and phrases from different fairytale stories, all placed over book pages.
