First Friday

So, what did you do last weekend?
Just the usual.. hmmm?

The next First Friday is May 6th.

Why should you care?

Well, if you like the fun of rubbing shoulders with people in the streets, watching fire jugglers, listening to bands, checking out dancers, and exploring the many galleries that are holding openings - then you should care.

Art in North Carolina

Last month, I went to visit my son and his family in Raleigh, NC. I had a wonderful time catching up on all the new accomplishments of my two North Carolina  grandchildren, a girl aged 7 and a boy aged 2. My granddaughter couldn’t wait to show me the art museum in Raleigh. Her class had taken a field trip to the museum, and she learned a lot about the sculptures displayed there.

There are over 250 paintings in the Water Lily series, several of them painted in triptychs. A Triptych is a tri-paneled work of art, and only two completed sets of triptychs of Water Lilies are housed in the United States. One complete triptych is on display at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art now through August 7.

Traveling Tammy Visits the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

This summer, my family and I created a "bucket list" of fun things we wanted to do this summer around the Kansas City area. When warm weather gets here, it’s easy for the best laid plans to become abandoned as the weeks of summer seem to fly by, and our bucket list helps remind us to get out of the house every once and awhile.
