Free Tax Help for Seniors

AARP representatives will be at the library to help seniors with moderate incomes with tax questions and tax return preparation. They will be at the Excelsior Springs Branch every Wednesday and Thursday until April 14th. There will be a sign-up sheet out at 8 a.m. each day for that day only. At 9 a.m., the representatives will be ready to start tax aid. They will not be at the library on days when the schools in the Excelsior Springs School District are closed. For more information, contact the Excelsior Springs Branch at 816-630-6721.

Upcoming Programs at Red Bridge

For kids:

Feb 28th at 7:00 p.m. - Readers Theatre Roundup is for all upper elementary kids to have fun making character masks, cards, and the opportunity to perform.

For teens:

March 5th at 9:30 a.m. - Kaplan ACT Practice Test for 3 1/2 hours; Parents are free to come for the last half-hour to discuss how to understand the test results.

Step Back into the Past

The Excelsior Springs Branch is offering two special programs that will take a look at our past. The first program will take a look at life in 19th Century Ray County. You will get a chance to see artifacts and clothing from the 1800’s, as well as learn more about life during this time period. This program is called Ray County in the 1800’s and it takes place on Thursday, March 3rd at 6:30 pm.

First Friday Film - Casablanca

Join us Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m. for a screening of the Best Picture Academy Award winner for 1942, the legendary Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. As always, we'll supply the popcorn and drinks. So, come join us for this cinematic classic.

March is the perfect month for crafts! The Excelsior Springs Branch has a number of programs that craft enthusiasts will definitely want to sign up for! Here is some information on one of them.

Birthday in a Bag: Monday, March 7th @ 6:30 pm

Create 8 invitations and party favors, a gift bag and tag ensemble, and a mini scrapbook album for birthday photos! There is a hands-on materials fee of $15, and you will get to take your goody's home with you!
