Teen Read Week, October 16th-22nd, is a reading initiative of the American Library Association focused on encouraging teens to read for fun! This year's theme is Picture It @ Your Library and highlights graphic novels, comics, and other works where the visual art is a strong factor in the story. Your local MCPL branch has some exciting plans to help you celebrate Teen Read Week this year.
Come one, come all, come...only if you are a TEEN!!! Next week, October 16th-22nd, marks Teen Read Week, a reading initiative of the American Library Association focused on encouraging teens to read for fun! This year's theme is Picture It @ Your Library and highlights graphic novels, comics, and other works where the visual art is a strong factor in the story.
They hate ‘em too. They get excited, bored, intrigued, angry, inspired, depressed, amused, and confused by them. At the Kearney Branch, we want to know what our teenaged patrons really think about the hundreds of books they read. With their help, we’ll find out during Teen Read Week, Oct. 16th – 22nd.
Happy Teen Read Week! This year's theme is "It Came From The Library." We're celebrating with a display of books that feature creepy creations. Vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other unnatural things are waiting within the pages of these awesome thrillers. So, what are YOU waiting for? We invite you to take one of our suggested reads, or browse the Young Adult section for the new best book you've ever read.
Teen Read Week ~ eReader Giveaway @ the Liberty Branch!
Teen Read Week is all about celebrating teens in the Library. This year’s theme is "It Came from the Library!" TRW seeks to show teens that it is fun to read in all its forms. This year, the Liberty Branch is doing something a little different. Instead of the usual book giveaway, we are embracing all things electronic and offering a Kindle Simple Touch as a prize.
Tell Us About Your Favorite Scary Book and Get a Prize!
Teens. What is your favorite scary book? Now is your chance to tell us about it. In honor of Teen Read Week, the Excelsior Springs Branch is holding a special contest. All you have to do is pick up one of our contest forms from our teen section and use it to tell us about your favorite scary book. Then, you can turn it in at the front desk, where you will be entered into a drawing for a prize. Your write-up of the book will be displayed in our teen section.
The last few years, the Liberty Branch has been offering random prizes to promote reading during Teen Read Week. This year was no exception. During TRW (which ran from October 14-20), we held a drawing for a Kindle Simple Touch. We extended the drawing to Halloween in order to give teens a chance to hear about the giveaway and enter.
We had several entries, but there could be only one winner! On Halloween night, we drew our first eReader winner. Congratulations Courtney O! Enjoy your new Kindle Simple Touch!
