Reading Aloud Family Time ~ A Hit at the Liberty Branch!
Over 230 families in the Liberty area read at least three chapter books together to earn a copy of The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The Jungle Book DVD winner at the Liberty Branch was the Houck family.

RAFT is such a fun-filled program. It creates an opportunity to spend time reading together as a family and it develops great reading skills. As we cozy up with our family to read a great book, we build wonderful memories. Thanks to one and all for the great participation. We had 7181 registrations and 7892 books read from January 18th – March 31st.
Just a reminder, the Summer Reading Program starts May 23rd.
It’s almost time for RAFT! RAFT stands for Read Aloud Family Time, and the purpose of RAFT is to encourage reading as a family. This program is offered to families of all shapes and sizes. Read two multi-chapter books checked out from the library between January 3, 2012 and March 3, 2012, and your family will earn a complimentary copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Road Dahl.
Boardwalk will host an official kick-off party for our annual RAFT (Reading Aloud Family Time) program on Saturday January 7th at 2 p.m. We will have a free gift for all who attend this program. There will be a craft, stories, songs, and--of course--chocolate in honor of the prize book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Happy 2012! Why not start the new year off right by participating in RAFT? RAFT stands for Reading Aloud Family Time. Studies have shown that parents who read with their children solidify the importance of reading, make reading fun, and strengthen the parent-child relationship.
MCPL's Reading Aloud Family Time (RAFT) program is just beginning. Any family who would like to participate can pick out two chapter books to read together as a family. Once your two books are read, you will receive a copy of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for your home library!
Come one, come all, I've got a hunch That you all can have fun reading a bunch. So gather your families, be they big or small, and heed this noble, challenging call!
From now until March, the third that is, You can read together to become a reading wiz! And the most wondiferous thing, a prize if you will, Shall be granted to those who meet the thrill.
