Colbern Road Branch Receives Literacy Award

It’s an exciting time to be part of the MCPL community. As you may already know, your library received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service last week in Washington D.C. at a ceremony at the White House. Next week, the Colbern Road Branch will be receiving a local honor: the Lee’s Summit Reading Council Literacy Award.

The Reading Council will host a reception at the branch on May 20, starting at 5:00 p.m. This event is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend.

History on Microfilm at MGC

Have you been doing any Lee’s Summit, Missouri research? Perhaps you’re researching early settlers of this area of Jackson County, Missouri? The Midwest Genealogy Center recently received a donation from the Lee’s Summit Historical Society. Within this donation was a collection of microfilm created from the records of W. B. Howard. Who is he, you ask?
