Are you stuck at home this summer? Wouldn’t it be great if you could visit another country and learn about its people and culture? Well, this Thursday you can tour the world without ever leaving the Library!
For our last Homeschoolers @ the Librarymeeting before summer break, we’ll create art based on the traditions of several cultures and do some learning in the process. Students will be able to visit individual stations throughout the program to participate in a hands-on craft from various parts of the world.
Hi! My name is Rachael. I am in charge of the Homeschoolers @ the Library group at the North Oak Branch. We have recently changed our meeting day and time in an effort to be more accessible to homeschool families.
I would like to introduce myself and encourage you to come join our group. I was homeschooled by my mother from 3rd grade through 8th grade. I really enjoyed my time learning with her, and I especially enjoyed our "field trips" to the library. I am 23 years old and newly married.
Big Changes for North Independence Branch Homeschoolers @ the Library
Nationwide, 1.5 million children are homeschooled. The number of children being educated at home increases each year.
To more effectively meet the needs of homeschoolers and their parents, the North Independence Branch would like to announce that we are enlarging our Homeschoolers@ the Library program. Starting on January 9, 2013, we will be having an activity for homeschooling families every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
Last month, the Homeschoolers @ the Library group at the North Oak Branch had a Creative Writing Program. Creative writing is so important for kids. We worked hard to show that writing IS FUN. When you approach it as a chore, you have already set yourself up for failure.
The kids, ages 5-10, amazed us with their creative skills. Our writing contest was the final challenge that put their skills to the test. They had 7 minutes to write a fun story. Here are our winners!
Did you know that your library has a variety of different events happening every week? You can choose from Book Clubs, Homeschoolers @ The Library, Storytimes, and other special programs we have coming up! The dates and times for these are simple to find.
