Recently, I found myself walking through Hogwarts watching it snow inside as I talked with Harry and Hermione. I toured Dumbledore’s office and the Dark Arts classroom as well as participated in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. No, I didn’t get a part in the final installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. My husband and I visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Island of Adventure.
If you attended the Harry Potter Extravaganza, you know how awesome the party was! Thanks for coming out to party with us, and thanks to the outstanding staff who threw one terrific party. There were potion classes, wand decorating, face painting, fortune telling, games and prizes, butterbeer drinking, and snacks! What great fun.
The First Prize Winner for the costume party was Taylor. Congrats to you, and happy movie watching muggles. Bring kleenex!
Harry Potter... I know you have heard those words over and over again these past few months. Some probably find them superbly annoying. For many fans however, they are reminders. I am newcomer to the Wizarding World having not read the books until after college. For years, I didn’t understand the draw and definitely not the hype. But once I started reading, I started to get it. Harry Potter exists in a world of magic and fantasy so completely different from our own.
Have you ever wanted to be immersed in one of your favorite books?
Well, that's exactly what Pottermore does for fans of the Harry Potter series, and a lucky one million users are currently beta testing the site right now for its opening in October. One of those lucky ones being me!
With the popularity of eReaders, it's seemed odd to me that my favorite book series of all time wasn't available for me to use on one. In fact, it's one of the main reasons that I've stuck with just my smartphone and not yet purchased any sort of eReader. Why bother if I can't have my favorite books on it, right?
So, I have to admit it: I've never finished the Harry Potterseries. I started them six years ago, and I just didn't fall in love with them. I pretended around my friends. I learned words like "Quidditch" and "Hufflepuff" and "Horcrux." I tried to blend in, but I was living a lie.
