From BOO To Beauty - The Library Provides Many Crafty Halloween Choices
Now that it is October, children (and some adults, too!) will begin deciding on costumes for Halloween. Halloween is the night you can be anyone or anything you want to be: movie stars, goblins and ghouls, princesses, and astronauts. If you imagine it – you can be it! But just in case you’re a little stuck looking for an idea, let Mid-Continent help.
Take a look at one of these titles that can aid you in creating the perfect costume, or throwing the ultimate Halloween bash!
Join us for our annual children’s Halloween party. It takes place on October 29th from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. We will have stories, songs, a simple craft, games, and face painting. Wear your costume for the costume parade through the library. Don’t forget your camera for some great photo opportunities.

Halloween is almost here. If you’re looking for costume ideas or planning a party, the library has lots of books on the subject that you can check out. To help drivers see children better, have them carry a glow stick or put reflective strips on their costumes.
People love to be scared, that tingle racing along our spine as we wait for something to spring out at us. We scream even though we know it was coming. To commemorate Halloween this week, here are the most scary-licious movies around (at least according the staff at Blue Springs North Branch):
Squeaker is excited about Halloween, but a little afraid of the Jack O'Lanterns. Then, he met some new friends when the teens did some pumpkin carving at the library. Now, he wants to know if we can dye him orange too.
Behold the glory of the Stormtrooper jack-o-lantern! Tremble in fear of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow! Thrill to the sight of pumpkins being mercilessly carved! Laugh at the bald spot of the presenter!
