Can you write a good story in 5 minutes? That was the challenge during the Creative Writing program for teens here at the Camden Point Branch. One young lady won our little contest by writing an imaginative history about Dr. Seuss. Here is her story:
Dr. Seuss came from a place called Cramer County. His two best friends were Sally and Sue. His address was 101 10th Street. His friends lived on either side of him.
His pet elephant was named Carly. She slept in an elephant-shaped bed that was neon green.
MCPL has a secret mascot. The branch this mascot lives in is a………. secret. What is this mascot? Hmmmm. Would you like some hints? Well then, here are a few. The mascot is tall, slightly fluffy, cute, and has a long, long tail. Do you know yet? No? Need more clues? Hmmmm. This mascot is furry, well mannered, AND loves to speak in rhyme. Got it? No? Hmmmm. Okay, big red tie, tall red and white hat! Yes, it’s the Cat In The Hat, and he is coming back!
Could you listen to stories in a box? Would you listen with a fox? Would you listen in a house? Could you listen with a mouse? Could you listen here or there? Would you listen ANYWHERE?
We know where you should be, on the 25th of February. Blue Springs North Branch is the place that you should be!
You can come by car or come on skis, just make sure that you join us please.
Our Weston storytime kids will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday two days early! At our regular storytime on Wednesday, February 29, we will be reading some of the Dr. Seuss classics and having a drawing for a copy of The Lorax. The fun will begin at 10:00 a.m. It will be a rhyming good time!
Here in Grain Valley, we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday a couple of days early. We watched a Dr. Seuss video, ate yummy cupcakes, and decorated our own Cat in the Hat bookmark. We had a lot of fun.
It was a huge birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss at the Liberty Branch on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Several Dr. Seuss film favorites were enjoyed by all who attended.
The children clapped their hands, and their smiles told us they were ready to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with our first book, Green Eggs and Ham, during storytime at Red Bridge on the first day of March. It was fun watching some of the boys, girls, and parents verbally follow the story as it was being read.
