If you enjoy mysteries and love to talk about them, then Mystery Loves Company at the Lee's Summit branch would love for you to join us on the first Wednesday of the month. We discuss a different mystery each month and whether we liked or hated it, there is always a great discussion about it.
Some of the best books we read this last year are:
A recent visit from a relative reminds me that we often take for granted the experience of others. In this case, the experience is The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Were you aware that not all Americans have read America’s first novel to be associated solely with the USA and the first to receive international attention? It’s true. So please consider this classic when you think about filling in the potential blanks in your reading experience.
Do you love summer, but hate the really hot, really humid days? Perhaps you hate to sit around and wait for it to get cooler without having something to do. Here are some things you could try. If you really like to read, here are a couple of titles that might get your mind off of what's happening outside.
All Dani has ever done is steal things. Eighteen-year old Dani has never known a real home, real friends, or going to school. Now her mother has moved them to Heaven, an East coast resort city full of large, old, expensive homes. Dani is responsible for researching the Donaldson home to find out the layout and whether or not there is a security system.
Have you ever wanted to join a book club? Look no further and wait no longer! Red Bridge Library has two book clubs that you can join! They meet separately, so you can join both of them or just one.
People Looking for Their Next Favorite Author Find Winners on the MRA Table
For those of you looking for your next favorite author, rest easy because the library has done the hard work for you!
Each month the Raytown branch puts out our most requested titles on a large table right inside the front door. The table is regularly stacked with titles from Janet Evanovich, James Patterson, Clive Cussler, and many more.
Since its introduction, many patrons have commented on how good the titles on the MRA (Most requested author) tables are, and we intend to keep it fully stocked with the most popular authors and titles.
We at the Kearney branch love recommending books almost as much as we love reading them. We've come up with some good ones for you today, so without further ado here are some recommended reads.
Our new Adult Display is Travel the Beaches of the World. It is a display of travel books from the United States to Australia. The books cover three major oceans, the Atlantic, the Pacific and the Indian, as well as the Caribbean Sea.
