Reserving a Meeting Room
Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) provides meeting rooms for public use at its Antioch, North Independence, Platte City, Raytown, and Smithville branches; as well as the Midwest Genealogy Center. These meeting rooms are available for reservation when not being used for library purposes.
Meeting Room Policies
Per MCPL Board Policy:
“Programming rooms are available to organizations or groups composed primarily of residents of the Mid-Continent Public Library District…Facilities may not be used for commercial purposes (i.e., sale of goods or services, executing fee-for-service agreements, or securing contract of commitment to services provided elsewhere). Use of a study room is limited to 2 hours. Times can be extended as long as no other library users need the room…All uses of the Programming Rooms are expected to comply with the guidelines outlined in the Library Conduct Policy”.
Permission to use a Library meeting room does not constitute or imply MCPL endorsement of the aims, policies or activities of any group or organization, or the views expressed in the meeting. Customers may request a copy of MCPL Board Policy from branch staff.
Making a Reservation
Reservations may be made in person, by phone or online at mymcpl.org. No fee is charged for study rooms, consultation rooms, or conference rooms, which are limited to a two-hour reservation. Larger rooms (with a maximum occupancy greater than 8) may have a cost-recovery fee of $35 per hour (with a minimum of two hours). Please contact the branch if you want to reserve a larger room for more than two hours.
Paying for a Room Reservation
Payment for reservation fees must be made with either cash or credit card. Bills will not be issued. Cash payments should be made at the branch where the room is reserved. Credit card payments can be made at the branch or over the phone. Payment must be received before the meeting start time. Cancellations must be made three days prior to reservation in order to receive refund.
NOTE:
You will receive two emails from MCPL. The first states the reservation request was received. The second finalizes the request. Reservations are pending until the reservation has been finalized.
