At the nation's crossroads, Missouri has played a major role in US history. Missouri was central to national conflicts over slavery's expansion as well as the starting point for the western trails and Pony Express. It also was home to railroad networks, notorious outlaws, a World’s Fair, bellwether presidential politics, political bosses, the I70 World Series, and the King of Beers. Knowing how we got here is crucial to understanding where we might be headed.
